Classroom evaluations

In my classroom, every week the teacher has the student fill out an "evaluation form" where they can monitor how they did in class that week. They either circle a smiley face, straight face, or frown. On the opposite side of the page, the teacher fills out the same form. The form is then sent home with the parents, so they can see what the student is thinking of their behavior compared to the teacher. I think it's a great way to help students understand their behavior and whether it's good or not.

  1. Interesting! My CT doesn't do evaluations, I think that it would be very benificial for her to do so. Students have good days and bad, but they need to realize that they can have successful behavior! I think that it would be a good idea to have the students write a positive comment on their sheet. This will keep them motivated for the next week. The teacher could also write reflections on the back so the students can see that they are caried about. By doing this, the evaluations will be taken more seriously.

  2. my ct doesnt do anything like that on paper, but he does ask them how they felt how they did in art, music, or gym by showing a thumbs up or thumbs down. i think the idea of it is good, but they all give him a thumbs up, so it really isnt that accurate of how they did.
