Extreme Chaos

My field experience has continued to be a great experience for me. My teacher is very helpful and knowledgeable. I love that she is willing to share so much with me and my partner. We just started something new today that I am very excited to get into. We are pairing with 2 other classrooms (for a total of 3 kindergarten classes) and all having math together. My teacher was recently gone to a conference, where she and some of her colleagues, learned about co-teaching. They are going to try this concept in their Math lessons. So far from what I can tell all the students will come together (30-40 students) and listen as the 3 teachers do a mini-lesson together. Than the students will be broken down into small groups (4-5 students) depending on their level they are at. Each group is then assigned to a teacher or a FE SCSU student. I think that this is a great concept and excited to see how it goes! I think it will be VERY interesting and a learning experience for everyone!

  1. I am in the same situation as you with the math/number lessons and I am very excited to get it started. It will be good to see how these students react to something new that is outside of their daily routine. It should be a great opportunity to see the students thrown into something they do not know. I hope this experience goes well for you and the others involved.

  2. I have never heard of doing this! It sounds like a great idea. This way the students will get to work with others and there will be smaller groups for one-on-one interactions. You'll have to let us know how this works out!

  3. It actually worked out very well I thought. It would need to be incorporated into the classroom as a weekly activity I think though for it to truely work. A lot of the time was spent seperating children, getting activities started, and giving directions. However, the overall thought of putting the kids into small groups of other kids at their same level is great! I think that this "program" could have a huge success for the kids!
