Predictable book

We read our predictable book to our class and they loved it. Ours was a little different then what I assume everyone else will be doing. Our CT asked if the students could write it and also illustrate it. The students were working on writing a revised version of "Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see?" It was a good opportunity for them to practice. So that's what we did. Each time we turned the page and read the student's name they were so excited. Their faces would light up and they would grin. We made sure we paused long enough on each page so they were able to appreciate the work they had done. We told them this was our gift to their classroom and they would be free to read it anytime.

  1. That sounds like a really fun way to have done the predictable book! I bet that the students illustrations were amazing! I can't wait to see how our class reacts to our book. I'm glad that your students loved it!

  2. That's awesome. My CT had our kids color in pre-drawn pictures for a letter book and they are excited when they see their painting. I can't imagine how ecstatic they would be to see their own drawings and words too. Great idea!

  5. we read our book to the class today as our parting gift, and we got the same response. every time they got to see their name and picture we took, they just smiled from ear to ear.
