Two days left... :(
There are only two days left of field experience...it seems to have flown by. I think that the most useful thing I've learned is in classroom management. My CT does an excellent job in ignoring little problems that solve themselves. She understands that trying to stop these behaviors will cause more of a distraction than the behaviors themselves. I also really like how she deals with bad behaviors. When a student is causing a distraction, she will sent them to a special area in the room to calm down. They sit in there until they decide that they're ready and rejoin the class. I like this strategy because the students rarely take more than a minute to realize that what they are doing is not worth missing out on what their friends are doing. I have not seen a student have to go calm down more than one in a day and rarely more than once in a week!

I think it depends on the class.. The classroom I'm in does the same thing. When a student is not behaving, the teacher sends that student to an area in the room to calm down. Sometimes, it seems as if the students want to take a break. They know if they sit in that area, they don't have to pay attention, so I think it depends on what class you're in. The main thing I've learned from this experience is that every student is different and even though it may work for one student, it might not for the next.
