Math Stations

During Math, we often place students into groups and have them participate in stations.  We usually have four stations where students participate in different activities.  Students enjoy these times because they have an opportunity to do things hands on, instead of just working out of a Math book.  Students actually beg to have stations almost every day during Math.  I like this time because I usually get an opportunity to teach one of these stations.  It can get a little hectic, but it is helping me learn to be innovative and change things as the groups switch.  Its all a learning process, but its really fun to be apart of!

  1. I think that the station work is fun and very helpful to the students. My partner and I have been teaching stations everyday for the last week. I find it challenging to adapt the lesson for the more advanced group and then have to adapt it again for the slower group. I think the children really benefit from the small group guided learning. My CT also has us do stations for reading as well as math.
